Lufthansa face mask exemption now requires negative Covid-19 test and medical note
Lufthansa Group has tighten the conditions under which customers can be exempted from earing face coverings inflight.
From September 1 passengers will have to present proof of a negative Covid-19 test not older than 48 hours at the scheduled beginning of the journey, as well as a medical certificate confirming that they should not be required to wear a face mask.
The group said that from today “passengers will be comprehensively informed about the new requirements, including on the airlines’ websites and social media channels, as well as via e-mail and via SMS”, in order to allow time for customers to adapt to the rule changes.
Lufthansa Group was one of the first airlines worldwide to introduce the requirement to wear face coverings inflight back at the beginning of May.
In recent weeks several airlines, particularly those in the US, have tightened their face mask exemption policies, including the banning of masks with vents.
